THE SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY OF JESUS CHRIST

    This is a redaction of the New Testament (The Holy Bible, Thomas Nelson, Inc; Camden, NJ, 1970.) It is a selection of what has been reported to have been the words of Jesus Christ on his notions as to the reformation of the social behavior of Man. All references to metaphysics are not included.

  1. Matthew

    • Chapter 13(15): Suffer it be so now; for all thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness

    • Chapter 5(3): Blessed are the poor in spirit; Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled; Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy; Blessed are the pure of heart; Blessed are the peacemakers; Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake. (14) Ye are the light of the world, A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works...(21) ...thou shalt not kill..(22)..whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be in danger of judgement..(24) first be reconciled to thy brother...(25) Agree with thine adversary quickly...(27) thou shalt not commit adultry...(39 But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.(40) if any man...take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.(41) And whosoever shall compell thee to go a mile, go with him twain.(42) Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.(44) Love you enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you.

    • Chapter 6(3) But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth...(4) that thine alms may be in secret..(6) when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut the door, pray...(14) forgive men their trespasses.

    • Chapter 7(1) Judge not that ye be not judged.(3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thy own eye?(5) thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thou own eye; and thou shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.(12) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would do that men should do to you, do ye even so to them...(15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are are ravening wolves..(16) Ye shall know them by their fruits.(20) Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

    • Chapter 12(33)...for the tree is known by his fruit...(34)..for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.(35) A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things..

    • Chapter 15(4)..Honor thy father and mother(11) Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.(17) But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.(19) For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.(20) these are the things which defile a man....

    • Chapter 18(15)..if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone; if he shall hear thee, then you hast thou gained thy brother.(16) But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established...

    • Chapter 19)18) Thou shalt do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultry, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness.(19) Honor thy father, and thy mother: and thu shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.(21)..go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor.

    • Chapter 22(37) Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.(38) This is the first and great commandment.(39) And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy self.(41) On these two commandments stand all the law...

    • Chapter 23(13) And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.(26) Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within..that the outside...may be clean also.(28_Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocricy and iniquity.(37) O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee...(38) Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

    • Chapter 25(35) For I was a hungered, and ye gave me meat: For I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.(36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

    • Chapter 26(52) Put up again thy sward into his place: for all they that take the sward shall perish with the sward.

    • Chapter 7(15) There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him...but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.(21) For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adultries, fornications, murders,(22) Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit. lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:(23) All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

    • Chapter 10(19) Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultry, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor thy father and mother...(21)...give to the poor..

    • Chapter 12(30) And thou shalt love thy Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: This is the first commandment.(31) And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandmnet greater that these.

    • Chapter 6(27)..Love your ememies, do good to them which hate you.(28) Bless them that curse you.(29) And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also..(3) Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.(31) And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.(35) But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again.(36) Be ye therefore merciful...(37)Judge not, and ye shall not be condemed: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven(38) Give, and it shall be given you...For with the same measure, that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.(42) Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.(45) A good man out of the good treasures of his heart bringeth forth that which is good..an evil man..that with is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

    • Chapter 13(34) O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee...(35) Behold, your house is left unto you desolate...

    • Chapter 14(11) For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

    • Chapter 17(3) Take heed to yourself: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him and if he repent, forgive him.(4) And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times a day turn to thee, saying I repent, thou shalt forgive him.

    • Chapter 18(14)...for everyone that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.(20) Do not commit adultry, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother.

    • Chapter 8(7) He that is without sin among you let him cast a stone at her.

    • Chapter 13(34) A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.(35) By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

    • Chapter 15(12) This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.(13) Greater love hath no man that this, that a man lay down his like for his friend.(17) these things I command you, that ye love one another.
